Tamarind, the Indian fine dining restaurant, has reopened after eight months of refurbishment.
The restaurant, which was the first Indian restaurant to gain a Michelin star in the UK, closed last year for a major rehaul. Its eight months closure led it to lose its Michelin star.
Now, the restaurant is double its former size, spreading over two floors and open plan kitchen. But it’s not only the space that has changed.
Tamarind is now led by two kitchen heavyweights – Karunesh Khanna, who was head chef of Michelin-starred, Amaya, and Manav Tuli, who had been head chef of iconic Indian restaurant, Chutney Mary, since 2012.
Tamarind food and drink
According to the owners, Tamarind hopes to offer “a modern twist on the flavours and textures of India”. It really manages this by keeping the food deliciously rich and flavoursome, but without any of it being too heavy. Why not try the Lotus root chat or delicious pistachio crusted lamb chops.
This lightness is reflected in the wonderfully open and airy dining space.
Tamarind reviews
Most critics have not had a chance to review the restaurant since its re-opening but watch this space.
