Kudu, a South African restaurant, has opened on Queen’s Road in Peckham.
Kudu is the brainchild of partners, Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams. Amy is the daughter of restauranteur, Chris Corbin, who was behind the success of many famous establishments, including The Delaunay and The Wolseley.
Kudu food and drink
Kudu is friendly and sociable restaurant decorated in earthy hues. Plush stools sit on reclaimed African parquet flooring that hint towards the restaurant’s South African fare.
With a no fuss menu, Kudu offers a straightforward menu of small plates, mains and desserts at dinner. Highlights include the brai meats, or South African style barbecued meats.
The restaurant also serves brunch at the weekend, cooking up traditional brunch classics with a South African twist. Try Kudu’s take on waffles and bacon, which is served with duck eggs.
According to the owners, the food comes from local suppliers and even their own herb garden and vegetable plot.
Kudu reviews
Reviews are quick to praise Kudu’s space and food.
According to The Evening Standard, Kudu is “comfortable, cosy and convivial” and the food is delicious with “small plates which pack big flavours” and barbecued meats that are “pure meat might.”
We will be following the reviewer’s advice: Gallop on down to Peckham for a vibrant new addition to the neighbourhood.
