Sabor opens on Heddon Street

Octopus / Sabor

Sabor, a Spanish tapas bar, has opened on Heddon Street in Soho.

Sabor (or ‘flavour’) is a restaurant and bar that hopes to transport customers to Andalucía, Castile and the seafood restaurants of Galicia, according to the owners.

It is led by both the former chef and former general manager at Michelin-starred Barrafina, Nieves Barragan Mohacho and José Etura.

Sabor food and drink

Sabor’s main restaurant is on the bottom floor. Here you will find a spacious dining counter where chefs prepare your food in front of you. There is a changing menu of fresh fish and regional Spanish seafood dishes.

But the real magic will be upstairs on the second floor, where Sabor’s asador (or traditional wood fired oven) lives. The second floor does not open until March but we look forward to being treated to specialties from the Spanish regions of Galicia and Castile, including diver caught scallop with ham consommé and chipirones en su tinta (or ‘squid in its ink’).

Last but not least, there is also a bar on the ground floor. There’s plenty of Spanish wine, beer and even Spanish gin on offer, as well as refined bar snacks with a Spanish twist. Try the truffle fried prawns with a fried quail egg.

Sabor reviews and Sabor social buzz

Sabor was only opened four days ago and so the mainstream reviews are not yet in but those who have been to Sabor cannot stop singing its praises:
